Jewelry Care
Each Aurum Co. piece is carefully handcrafted using reclaimed solid 14k gold and sterling silver and should be cared for appropriately to extend the lifetime and enjoyment of your jewelry. We recommend against dipping any of our pieces in jewelry cleaners or solutions as this may cause corrosion and permanent damage to the metal. When not being worn and for even better safe-keeping, storing your jewelry in an anti-tarnish bag and velvet pouch will help prevent oxidization.
Solid Gold and Sterling Silver
Though solid gold jewelry is not as reactive to air and skin as sterling silver, it also will need to be cleaned occasionally to keep its luster and shine. We recommend gently wiping the metal surface with the polishing cloth provided, which is specifically treated with a compound that will keep your Aurum Co. jewelry looking its best.
Oxidized Silver
Our oxidized silver jewelry is intended to look darkened, matte and black so it is best not to treat it with any chemicals, solutions or even a polishing cloth since this will remove the patina. A soft cloth and lukewarm water will work wonders to bring it back to its original finish.
Gemstones
All of our stones are natural gemstones, providing you with a beautiful variety of shapes, sizes, colours and inclusions. An inclusion is a characteristic enclosed within a gemstone during its formation and is part of their natural beauty. They are thought to be even older than the host rock itself, adding distinctive history to your jewelry piece. Due to their natural makeup and to maintain their integrity, avoid using cleaners, solutions and other harsh chemicals. Simply clean with a soft bristle brush, lukewarm water and mild soap and pat dry with a soft clean cloth.
